  • Coolant sensor fault

Have a fault on coolant sensor, circuit earth out.coolant sensor reading ok on diagnostic 91 degrees when hot which is ok.but gauge goes over to hot and cooling fans come on and stay on for about 5 to 10 minutes,it may do this for a day or 2 then its ok for a week.No engine faults on diagnostic its winding me up.Had the same fault on a Peugeot changed everything still never cured it so i put it down to ECU.don't want to put a thermostat housing on because it probably won't cure the problem.Has anyone had this problem and had it sorted.

I took our car for its mot. They had a ds3 in for a coolant sensor replacement. They said. Strangely it needs to be reprogrammed by citroen. Hooe this information is of some use to you.

I've seen something like this on a 1.6vti....gave symptoms of coolant temp sensor failure, gauge in the red, fans full on, logged temps normal. Turned out to be a faulty oil level sensor which shorts the circuit on which coolant temperature is shared. There's a modified thermostat housing and wiring loom that prevents this happening again.
