  • Lowering the Racing

Would the various lowering spring kits fit the Racing? And do you feel they would improve the handling cheers for the help

  • #2
They will definitely fit. Not a racing owner so will not comment on the handling of that car but the KW coilovers did improve the handling of my thp quite a bit, as always, at the expense of a harsher ride.

I'm pretty sure the Racing is lower and has stiffer springs than a regular DS3 as standard, not sure how much lower though.

Edit: Yeah it is, info here. If you click 'Tech, Specs & Power', then click through the info.

Racing is already lowered for handling. Perhaps a tensioning strut would help handling...what sort of handling are you after? Country road good or track good?

I just thought it look quite high. My previous MINI I fitted eichbach springs and although they did not help the ride it improved the handling. I noticed the racing is lowered but not as much as some of the after market springs lower it by. I just wanted road use not to harsh a ride but just a touch more taut and pointy if you know what I mean

One of the things the reviewers liked about the racing was that it didn't break your back driving it like the Cooper S and JCW. Stiffen the springs or lower it further and you'll end up with the same back breaking ride. They are very good at handling what you might be thinking of as looser handling is just the steering system perhaps? Alot of people say it;s rather light- that might be giving you a false feel

run it set fairly hard would have to find my tracking sheet to see what it's set at right now. But like it that way! very smooth roads hear in Germany

I wonder if my back would survive having your setup with the potholes we have up here- god, it's bad enough on the stock sports suspension. Do wish they'd fix the roads

I play around with it kind of fun. The diff settings can have a big affect on handling. Wish I know more so could get it closer to what I want faster. Even screwed it up enough a couple times to set it back to KW's recommended settings and start over.
