The Bulldog International Rally of North Wales is the second round of the Televised British Rally Championship and is based at the Welshpool Livestock Sales site at Buttington, on the outskirts of Welshpool, Powys.
This one event will include four individual rallies with cars ranging from original Mini's, Ford Escorts and Porsche 911's of the 1960's to the very latest, high-tech models from Citroen, Ford, Skoda and Renault and everything in between.
Seven DS3's take on the Bulldog Rally
This weekend’s Bulldog International Rally, round two of the MSA British Rally Championship, will see a record seven Citroën DS3 R3s, starting from Welshpool for this event that uses some of the classic Welsh forestry special stages, synonymous with Rally GB.
Finish ace Jarkko Nikara heads the DS3 entry, with Desi Henry and Osian Pryce next up. Vincent Dubert is a welcome French visitor, whilst young Welsh driver Tom Cave is hoping to make his DS3 debut, along with Hereford based James Grint (brother of Harry Potter star, Rupert) and former Fiesta champion Jonny Greer.
It’s all go for the Citroen crews and it’s been all go for Jarkko Nikara’s team-Autosport Technology following their Rallye Sunseeker engine problems. With the engine lifted from Oreca in France last weekend, the work is on to complete the car and carry out a brief test before Saturday’s tough stages.

It seemed the logical step” said James. “We’d had a great season in the Evo9 and had some great results but the DS3 is really the future of rallying, certainly at the top level in the UK.”

Citroën UK joins the manufacturer’s championship for 2012, supporting the series with DS3 R3. Being run by a number of privateer outfits across the six national events, the 210bhp DS3 R3 is based on the award-winning Citroën DS3 production car. Developed by Citroën Racing, the DS3 R3 has a tuned four-cylinder 1.6 THP petrol engine and makes use of a six-speed sequential semi-automatic gearbox.
DS3 has already achieved an impressive motorsports pedigree, helping Citroën secure a seventh WRC Manufacturers Championship with the most successful racing driver of all time – Sébastien Loeb – behind the DS3 WRC’s wheel. The partnership with the MSA British Rally Championship will create another proving ground for the future stars of the WRC and Citroën is fully committed to supporting grass-roots rallying and
