  • Rim protectors

Has anyone tried any brand of the coloured Wheel rim protectors that are on sale in Halfords or fleabay. They would look quite smart with the black bellone, but not sure if much protection from kerbing they would give?

I have alloygators fitted to mine, look fine and certainly to the job. Will upload a picture later on if that helps.

Rimblades and Alloygators seem to be the most used.

      More info in these threads:

alloygators are more robust but can look scruffy when kerbed a few times
rimblades easier to fit, but once kerbed, need replacing

depends how many times you think you will kerb TBH
even being really careful it happens once a year for me- but rimblades can be replaced with just a small section

I fitted a lime green rimblade which was simple and stuck on really well with the new 3M adhesive backing, but the colour just didn't match and looked a bit silly , so I ended up taking it off again and have decided to just not hit any kerbs.

Was the application easy as I'm looking to get some for my wheels to cover some kerbing

Yes, very easy method. 4 cleaning pads, 4 primer pads in the kit.
First use the cleaning pad then the primer around the rim. The primer pad is strong so don't sniff it too many times unlike myself. Within 5 minutes of using the primer start applying the rimblade on to the rim, peeling off a few inches of the backing tape at a time and pressing rimblade firmly around the diameter. You then have to cut it to length once you reach your starting point. I would recommend you cut it slightly longer and then trim it with a Stanley knife. The Rimblades I got came in one long coil and it was easier to cut them to a shorter length for each wheel. Quick calculation pi x d (3.14 x17" so my Greek phone a friend told me)

There is also a choice of edges, one is longer and one is shorter but thicker, so you can try it in the rim without the backing paper off to see which edge covers your kerb marks best.

yes- rimblades dead simple to fit- can do it when wheel is still on car
have to deflate the tyre and take wheel off, for alloygators

Nice one Peter- take it easy (Below 50mph) if you can for the first week. Try not drive at all first 24hrs
They mean what they say about taking time to stick to the wheel

Ive had several fly off and whack the bodywork doing 69mph+ on the motorway

Cheap and relatively effective tho, I think
