Side chrome strips

Does anyone know what are under the side chrome strips, any holes etc??

I think there are plastic clips on the doors (so I'd guess again there must be small holes in the doors)

Early models had no holes, as it was an extra trim option. And was stuck on - no holes.

Later models have as standard and may have locating pin holes.
