Green Panel/K&N panel filter or Cone filter

Had a look on ebay for a green panel filter and noticed that the k&n filter is £25 cheeper. Is there a huge difference between them? I know that i will get a better sound from the cone filter but is there any performance difference.

I would imagine you would get a lovely induction noise from the cone filter but it would be sucking in lots of hot engine bay heat witch would lose you performance. A panel filter would maybe get you an extra 1 or 2 bhp with no noise and you being out £40 to £50 out of pocket and you would notice no difference.

Yeah im not to bothered about the sound just now, i am planning on taking the car to at least stage 2 in the next year so just getting things done a bit at a time. So i will need to change the air filter for that anyway.
