  • Airtec intercooler fitted

fitted an airtec intercooler today luckily for me my son is a citroen tech so he gave me a hand.
It was a bit of a pita to be honest bumper removal not too bad but getting the oem intercooler out is a pain my son removed the headlights, loosened
the condenser and the radiator top cover to make it easier to remove it. I had to enlarge one of the mounting holes on the airtec to get a better fit and used
one of the crash bar mounting bolts at each end, getting the pipe work up to the air intakes took an age as there is not a lot of room to work in some washing
up liquid came in handy. I also removed a mounting bracket that held a connector as it was fouling the pipes on the advise of my son.
I haven't had chance to take the car for a run yet as my back is reminding me I am getting too old to be working on cars especially at this time of the year!
I bought it from Nd tuning it was advertised for £395 but I spoke to a guy named Neil and when I told him I was a forum member he let me have it for £379 and
he told me this discount would be available to other forum members

I will be having my remap tweaked by Jamie at some stage so will be able to see any performance improvement then

Awesome! Sounds like a big job? Did you get any photos?

It was chilly today! I was out there cleaning my car, just about thawed out

I'll get on touch with Neil and get them listed on site.

some photos of the intercooler I chose not to have the airtec logo on mine at this stage I was wondering why I had started this and even
      my dog looks worried!

photo showing pipe work running where oem intercooler was located not a lot of space you can choose different colour hoses
a flexi jubilee spanner came in very handy

      what it looks like fitted

          Looks real good Jabber
Are your intake temperatures pretty high? due to a remap or something, as OEM doesn't necessarily need an upgraded intercooler

Reading this post is putting me off having a go lol

the intercooler can only help with the remap like most mods its a question of taste but I wiil be able to see if it makes a difference when I visit jamie again

having fitted it a second one would be easier to do what I have noticed from looking at one that was fitted to a ds3 on another forum there are slight differences between
            the various models

Will certainly fit one at some stage, maybe best when warranty is out, as warranty will cover my valve issues for a bit

Think so- 4 stutters in the last 3 weeks. Got the fault codes saved on Torque pro (Knock sensors out of tolerance, usually cylinder 4 but all have been affected) so will show the Techs when it goes in for the 2nd year service later in couple weeks
They've already done the engine clean, so wonder whats next LOL

Would do a trip to Jamies, but don't see why I should under warranty

What is your LTFT parameter now? Can you check it with an OBD interface + laptop/Android phone please?
Because in my case - with that AIRTEC FIMC and after timing set changed (maybe that's the cause of it?) it's decreasing. It's now at -6,2%, where it should be at 0,0% I think... :-/

That is one PITA job to do. Getting the intercooler out is a mare, and replacing the front bumper unit keeping the gap small is pretty much impossible

All done thought- test drive to Peterborough from Brighton tomorrow!
