Well last night I had some success in getting the Pi to boot up off a single micro USB cable which gave enough power for the 4 inch touchscreen too which is directly powered from the Pi.
Will try setting up some software while I'm away over the next few days but it's looking good!

I can't remember the name of the place now but will see if I can dog out the invoice. I just Googled custom centre caps and found a UK place and sent them the design courtesy of WTF (Joni)
