  • DS3 THP Remap

    Hi guys and girls,

I tried a quick search and all the questions were about Diesel remaps.

I am purchasing my first Ds3 THP next week and was wondering if anyone has had one remapped and what was the results.

    1. Who did you use?
    2. Was it worth it?
    3. Cost?

    Many thanks

    Craig

    Welcome to the club

I've not had mine remapped but I've been seriously considering it and I spend a lot of time on here.

    1. Who should you use?
    - Jamie at SP Tuning.

    2. Was it worth it?
    - Definitely. Gains of around 35bhp & 55nm torque (info here).

    3. Cost?
    - On the website it says £300 but Jamie offers a forum discount so might be less.

Other things to consider are the age & miles of the car (not all THPs are created equal) and how far you want to go with the engine mods etc. If you are planning on keeping the car for a while and doing a lot of upgrades, it might be worth doing some preventative upgrades to reduce the risk of common problems.

Think the cost is £270 if you are a full member, was when I got my diesel remapped there a few weeks back.

Thanks for the responses guys, I read somewhere that http://www.flashremapping.co.uk/vehiclelist/ds3-tuning/ was also worth a look?

Motorsport Map ( including panel air filter) says it should be running 200bhp and 311Nm.

Are the maps on the Ds3 reliable? Ive not remapped a car since my Renaultsport Megane r26

Mine has been but I had to buy a forge BOV as my turbo was stalling constantly, apparently this is very uncommon though, might be my driving though, change gear too fast for the standard valve

Is there anything i need to look out for with the THP, any common faults?

If it's not new, how old is it? There have been a few variants and some are more prone to going kaput than others.

Pretty much everything under the bonnet lol, it's not that bad really, what THP do you have? 150 is worse, 155s are usually much better, I agree not all of them are the same, mine was running 165 as standard at the wheels rather than 155, so go figure

Any THP with 30k +miles will need a walnut blast, I've done a car today with 50k on the clock that had lost 28Hp due to carbon deposits on the valves and intake runners. And also a car last week with a 22Hp loss due to same problem.
                    Have camshaft timing checked.
HPFP, these are made of chocolate. Update to the latest revision pump from BMW Mini
O2 sensor, this will be past its best.
Uprate spark plugs to those from the Racing.
OCC is a good idea, every little droplet of oil caught will help slow the build up of carbon again.
And of course, feed it Shell V-Power

The one i'm collecting is a 62 plate with 24k on the clock, from what i can tell its the 155.

                      Hi Jamie,

Is getting the bits and bobs you have mentioned extremely expensive, as Im only based in MK and are you in Leicestershire?

                        Does this happen with diesels?

Not from what we've seen so far, these symptoms however seem to be very common amongst the range of THP's.
