  • Small Update: Badges, Spoiler, Skirts and Grille

Picked up some plastidip last month, grabbed a few cans of black and white. Original plans were to do the headlight eyebrows in black followed by the bellones in white. I ended up doing the grille also as seen in the picture below, however opted to leave the chevrons chrome (still undecided about this).

Had been longing for the CSR spoiler since I picked up the keys months ago, finally got one and had it sprayed the same colour. Doesnt have the same depth as the colour of the car however its close enough to keep me happy. Haven't got around to permanently fixing it on yet however here's a test fit:

Can also see from this photo that I've removed the rear citroen lettering and dipped the 'ds' emblem black.

Originally one of the side skirts from my car were cracked, my dealer had agreed to source a new one for me as well as the securing clips. (It's the plastic strip along the very bottom sill of the car). These are an absolute pain to fit, the clips are flimsy and snap easily, I've been through 2 sets trying to get the fitment right. My other side skirt was slightly loose, so I removed it and got new clips to tighten it up. However, as is the way with these things, it snapped half the clips on the first try, so I'm currently driving around with one skirt while I wait on more clips arriving.

Moving onto the bellones. As you may expect with this being a 2010 car, the corrosion around the center caps of the bellones is ridiculous, I've been saving my pennies for a set of team dynamics in white (Similar to those from the racing).

Sadly, my TV packed up last week and the money I'd set aside for the team dynamics was sunk into that.

As if things couldn't get any worse, I encountered a Fiesta zetec S on the backroads near where I live , and during a 'Spirited Drive' I managed to clip a pothole around 60mph, which my front left and rear left bellone didn't agree with.

Picture makes it out to be less bad than it is, the entire alloy is split, the tire completely blew out, and there is a hole the size of a £2 coin in the sidewall.
The rear alloy is buckled out of shape and has a small crack (unsure whether it can be repaired) and also a slow puncture.

Never in my life my life had I longed for a space saver like I did last night, tried to switch the wheel for a black steelie off my mate's fiesta, however it was the wrong size, tried again with my cousins mazda 2 space saver, however it was nowhere near big enough. I was out in the middle of nowhere up a steep hill where no tow truck would have been able to get me (unsure how I even made it up in the first place, had to rev the nuts off first gear). So I eventually gave up and risked driving it back to my house at 20mph the whole way, with both tires now completely flat, and the front alloy wobbling as If no tire was even fitted!

My dad surprised me today with two (Very rough) matching white bellones with tires, so I'm planning on plastidipping all four in the hope of tidying them up a bit.

    Thanks for reading!

Edit: Proper photo of the car:

I love the look of the silver Citroen logo, I'd suggest keeping it. You've done a tidy job with the plasti dip from what I can see. Good work!

We had our projector go pop last month but were lucky enough that our old TV was only being borrowed by the neighbor downstairs. It always sucks planning for failure but at least you managed to sort something out in the end, albeit temporary.

How easily does the spoiler mount? I'm guessing it needs bonding?

Cheers! I was looking for something a little different from the usual solid chrome or black, the masking work was a little tricky however. And I know the feeling, things always seem to break right as you've been saving up for something else haha.

The spoiler came with a sort of mastic bonding paste, however I'm unsure whether I'm going to use it as I want it secured as best as possible, was considering drilling through the top of the bootlid and securing it that way, however I'll figure something out when I have time to get a better look at it and plan it out.

Don't feel shy about the bonding adhesive. The CSR spoiler including the mounted method has been tested and approved by the German TUV. If applied correctly per the instructions it is not going anywhere.

Not sure on the front look myself. I don't find it offensive or anything. It is just not my thing, but what matters is what you like!

Looks good that, besides the wheel. Moral of the story though, never try to race a fiesta, they always win

My first impression was that the moral to the story is, do not get white wheels.

Thought the moral might be to make sure I'm infront next time, better view of whats coming lol.
As for the spoiler I'm going to just attatch it with the adhesive and leave it at that, should be sturdy enough as I always have the car handwashed anyway.

Managed to get the replacement bellones on this afternoon, didnt have time to dip them however as it had begun to rain and I have no where indoors to paint. As you can expect they all look quite rough at the moment, and I've got a feeling that disagreement with the pothole has knocked out the front alignment, as road noise on the front left was much louder than i remember during a quick drive earlier tonight.

As for the colour of the wheels I'd ideally have preferred black, however I feel having the car completely black would lose some character, time will tell though as I'm getting sick of cleaning brake dust constantly.
                    Thanks for all the comments!

Great work so far, I agree with cyclone, the bonding agent will be enough if the instructions are followed.

                        Looking good!!

I've seen the chevrons left before and couldn't help thinking it made the car embrace the Citroen Heritage more so than the DS. Looks like a really smart job though!

Thank you for the write up too!

Gutted about the wheel >.< Dad to the rescue!!

I want some Team Dynamics or similar for my DS3. And they look much better in white!

                          Appreciate it!
The team dynamics do look smart, I'm hoping if I eventually grab a set they might help my brake dust problem, they have a lot more ventilation so hopefully that would help a bit. Also considering getting my back bellone repaired to use as a spare, however it seems like a lot of extra weight to be carrying around, especially if it didn't come as standard.

                            csr spoiler

does the csr spoiler fit over the existing one?

Fits over the original spoiler - provided it isnt a dsport. It has a cut out for the shape of the existing spoiler, it slides over the top and is secured with adhesive.
