  • Stickers and paint fade

Happy New Year to you all.

Last year I stickered my car. Ever since, the OH has been warning me/grumbling that the paint will fade over time and if in the future I decide to remove the stickers, there'll be outlines where they were. Obviously, I know this, but frankly I don't really care. However, out of interest, has anyone else done this and what was the outcome? Alternatively, do you think non-standard stickering will detract from the value down the line?

I would have thought that the paint under the clear coat is unlikely to fade any time soon.

I would imagine a good polishing would remove any inconsistencies in the paint colour from weathering and the stickers. The roof on mine had faded quite noticeably, and came back with a thorough polish.

Interesting. Did you use any particular type of polish?

Removed stickers off my first THP just before 2 years, and there was a very slight difference between the gradients of red paint, which got better with polishing but didn't disappear. It was part exed for a new THP and dealer didn't mention it, as they didn't with a few other issues they didn't spot :-)
