Modified cars handle and drive unpredictably. Cars from the manufacturer have been through rigorous testing both for safety and for driveability.

When you modify your car you risk undoing some of the good changes that manufacturers have spent years researching and putting into practice.

That could explain why modified cars are more expensive to insure than OEM cars....

edit: Maybe your insurers just don't like you. Chris Knott didn't charge me an excess for any of my changes.
