  • Problem with Etuners flasher software

    Hello:

After 2 months of waiting, at last the elm327 cable came from the post office, just in time with my intercooler, boost pipes and downpipe.
Etuners send me their software, I also saw a few videos to know how to remap my car, but it seems to be a problem. Their instructions said that
first you have to retreive ECU id, then read the ECU to save the original file. When I tried it (like 4 times already) with the first button to retreive the ID it asks me to save the file TXT
but after it does it's work, I push the second button to read the original file, and it does nothing. Does someone had the same problem? I wrote to etuners but
but I had always problems communicating with them or they had really bad customer service (sometimes they don't answer at all, and sometimes they answer after a long time).

I attached the file I got from my car.

Hope the gurus of the remaps can help me, I'm from Perú by the way, sorry for my english.

    Best regards,
    Lucho

    Hi Lucho,
I had similar issues with the software... but I fixed it by having everything in the same folder including the drivers (CH341PT.DLL) and running it in Compatibility Mode as an Administrator on Windows, as the software works best with Windows XP and I've read that sometimes malfunctions on new windows.
Also there are two Flasher THP softwares FlasherTHP20110303 and FlasherTHP20120113, I couldn't get it to work with the 2012, just with the 2011 one.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers

Whilst my knowledge of remapping limited I think I can safely say applying a map not designed for your car is a bad idea. I would seek clarification from Stelios and his team before installing a map on a whim.

The two different softwares I'm referring to are the same thing (you can use both to flash the same remap file, which I agree has to be designed for your car) it's just that one is 'newer' than the other. And in my case I coundn't read the Original File with the Later software starting with 2012, but there was no issue reading and flashing it with the older 2011 software.

There might not be an issue reading it or flashing it but I imagine there's been changes to certain parameters in each map.

If you've flashed a newer car with an older map then you may be missing values which have been added to the newer map and vice versa; if you apply a new map to an old car you run the risk of creating invalid parameters on the ECU.

          Code:
I've never manually modified an ECU but deal with application and source code on a daily basis. I'm sure Jamie or someone else would be able to help debunk this theory

Thanks Albish for your reply, tonight I'm going to try the windows xp compatible mode and putting the drivers on the same folder, also I'm going to try with an older laptop with winxp on the weekend. Actually my software is 2016something, so I'm going to ask for the older one.
Dangerousfish, what Albish is talking about is the newer software to read the map, not the map itself, so I think there shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for your concern anyway!
Albish, do you think you can send me the old software to my inbox to try it?

            Thanks to all!

PayPal is the only means of sending funds at the moment to prevent us having to store card details on the servers. You can purchase full membership here: http://www.ds3club.co.uk/payments.php
