  • Thp Lag help after mods

I am trying to find a solution for my car's lag between 3,000-4,000 rpm

I was wondering if its possible for a performance panel filter (I have the itg on my thp) give a lag to the engine?

    I've done the following:
1st stage: Full decat exhaust + ecu remap..--> car was pulling better in mid/higher rpm compared to stock but didn't had the lag between 3,000-4,000rpm..it was pulling well from 2,800+ rpm
2nd stage: Front mount universal intercooler+itg panel filter+racing 200cpi catalyst...all done at same time...at this point the car started having the lag..my tuner tried to adjust the remap so that I don't have this lag but he couldn't solve the
problem with the ecu remap tweek/upgrade.
I also went for a smoke test to see if the boost pipes have any leak but everything was ok
The diameter of the boost pipes is not bigger than the stock..I am posting two photos one of the boost pipes and one of the intercooler if someone can help ?

Doubtful a different air filter will help, but if you want to find out if the air filter affects the lag, then just take the air filter out for a spin round the block. Wont hurt for a few minutes

Consider an upgraded recirculation valve (Noisy ones called blow off valve)

I've got the silent forge blow off valve

I would guess that since the remap was done on a decat, then you put in a sports cat, that would be restricting exhaust flow more and messing with what the ECU thinks is happening. Since the turbo is powered by the exhaust gases, slower gases = slower spool up. The ECU might still be chucking in fuel as if you had a decat, but there's less air due to the turbo still spooling up to max RPM, thus running an overly rich mixture.

I mean I'm probably exaggerating what's actually happening but since you re-added a cat and put in a bigger intercooler, that would require a new map to optimise the mods.

If your tuner can't tweak the existing one, maybe it needs wiping to factory then re-remapping from fresh?

Get it on a dyno ,let me look at its power curve, boost, WG duty, AFR and spark adv.
Also, what are your intakes like? May need a clean.

It may be due to bigger intercooler and longer intercooler pipes. You may try to install another intercooler which has input and output pipes at the same side, so you will have shorter pipes.
