Hi guys,
i have been looking to get a new gear knob for my car. I never really knew about how the original one attached, it took some force but i eventually pulled it off.
To my disappointment it is a strange moulded plastic fitting that is moulded over the knurled metal gear stalk. That isn't coming of without a lot of cutting and filing.
This is what i what i wanted to get - http://store.wearelikewise.com/product/the-neil-diamond
I though i would be able to use this to attach it - http://store.wearelikewise.com/product/the-euro-adapter
It would have added up to a total of £95 for a gear knob!!!!
I was on the fence about buying it due to the price anyway, but the fact i couldn't even fit on my car was the nail in the coffin.
I still liked the design so I set out out design my own and 3D print it. I started with test pieces to make sure it would fit.
I designed a slot that allows the reverse pull up thing to slide up into.
Of course i had to add a citroen logo on top![Tongue](https://forum.ds3club.co.uk/core/images/smilies/tongue.png)
I set it 3D printing and about an hour and half later i have the final product.
My 3D printer was only about £300 about 4 years ago when I started my apprenticeship.
So it isn't the best quality print in the world but it for saving me £95 i'm really happy with it.
I hope the pictures work. i will post a picture of it in my car tomorrow when its light.
Thanks for looking!
