*Incoming* - Custom Foot Rest

We are in talks with a company about getting some custom metal foot plates made up, in time hopefully it can be something we can sell in the shop.

So I need some feedback and information from you guys.

From what I have read on here the OEM one is a bit big and clumpy - some have reported it only just fits on the carpet area on the exsisting foot rest.



So I think we can improve on that and make the new one a bit slimmer.

This one has been popular, but it is also the only other one I have seen out there.



The footrest in the DS3 is Polystyrene foam, so we would design this to fit the same as the others and use screws to hold in place.

I can create a new design with the help of you guys, it's not fair to just copy another already on the market.

So from you, I need a few things!

• Measurements of the OEM one
• If you have the second pictured, measurements of that
  Pics would be great too! And more than one person's info would be great to compare.
• What you like or don't like about the two above
• What you would like in a new one
• Design wise, we could have a few, maybe a club one, then a few that anyone would like.

Just wondering... would it be a good idea for it to have a folded down section to cover the bit of carpet on the side of the moulded footrest where the side of one's left foot commonly wears a hole while operating the clutch?

How about another triangle people could add on? Less to fathom out, easier to manufacture and more options for people.

I have the second, will get dimensions this weekend as I'm dropping it in the garage after work tomorrow and it's dark right now

It looks like it fits better, but the top corner of the triangular part is still too bulky and pushes against the centre console. A new custom one would definitely fill a market gap!

Pros of mine (in my opinion):

• I prefer the DS3 branding, stripeyness, and overall engraving design
• Brushed aluminium looks smart
• The shape fits better, but not perfect (see above)
• Nice and thin so your leg isn't pushed back further
• Is very easy to clean as it has no rubber lumps to catch on

Cons (basically the ways it doesn't quite fit):

• Too wide, as mentioned.
• Too flat - the felt arch has a slight curve, although this would likely be expensive to mimic
• A couple more screw holes would help anchor it better

Looking at this more, I think there is real potential for an actual DS3-shaped footrest to fit there, in the style of the club emblem in the page header / old sticker design, pointing nose-down, roof facing the centre, wheels facing the pedals.

I've got the OEM one and I really like it. Not had any issues with the size, but I will get the dimensions later.

OK the OEM one is 17cms long and 6.5cms wide and about 4mm's thick. I never noticed until now that it overhangs at the top slightly. I like the rubber bumps as it adds grip like the alloy pedals, but it is a pain to clean. Hope that helps. I will have a think about design too after I've had my tea

My only concern is selling something with a design that belongs to someone else. We got a slap on the wrist before from Citroen when we had the Chevron's in our site logo which is why we now have the car
