Alright, I've got a 1.2 110 puretech and I'm at a loss for things I can do to increase bhp, I've booked a remap and sports exhaust but I'm at a loss of things to do, my friends with other cars have been giving me conflicting opinions so I thought I'd post here and see what advice I can get[emoji1360] thanks guys

Sell it and buy a THP? Seriously though 3 cylinders 1.2l you can't expect to get whole lot out of it or for manufactures to produce a lot performance parts for it. Just will never be economically viable for them to make. Your exhaust and remap may be all that makes sense engine wise.

Problem is in 19 and my insurance is already £1600 with 1 year no claims, I looked at getting the THP model but I just couldn't justify the insurance

Did you say you have booked it in for a remap? If you have, then that combined with a sports exhaust and possibly a cone filter/induction kit (K&N, Pipercross Etc) may be all you can do. I wasn't sure if a remap of the 1.2 puretech engine was possible yet. I know Jamie@SPTuning has on his site that it's coming soon, but not sure if he has done any yet. Jamie remaps alot of members DS3's, so he will be able to advise you better.

Edit: If your insurance is £1600 now, what do you think it will be after your remap and mods? Not wanting to put a dampener on your plans, but these mods will need declaring to your insurance company and they may not insure you once done. Just something to consider before you spend your hard earned cash.

As tempting as it is to want to get out there and start performance modding this car it might be better to save your money for your next car and stick to some cheaper visual mods on this one. Can still turn it into something unique and special just more affordable. Prepping for the killer that will come next so to speak.

This is the exact same conclusion I came to with mine. Pointless to be spending a ton on a car that isn't built for performance, so starting to save a lot for something AWD with 350+ ponies.

That said, just a little tweaking is fine as long as the insurance covers it. I wouldn't be going beyond your current plans.

Agreed! I know it's probably not the answer you want and it's kind of a killjoy reply, but there is plenty you can do visually.

To be honest mate I was the same as you when I first got my DS3 same age and insurance was sky high and wanted to go straight in with performance mods. My advice is go for visual for the time being, because when exactly do you need speed other than overtaking and joining motorways/dual carriageways? Just my input mate. Hope this helps.

Take the back seats out? I wouldn't spend money on trying to make it faster though, I'd save the money and put it towards a new car when you turn 20 or whatever. You'll end spending a lot and you won't really notice a difference. Your car at the end of the day dough bro.

Cheers for the advice, think that's what I'm going to do, just put a bit of money into making it my own visually and then get something a bit more practical to work ok when I can afford the insurance [emoji1360]

It'll be worth it mate believe me. The money you'd save rather than having to increase the insurance can get you plenty of visual mods. We're all here to help if you need.

Do you have any suggestions for where I can buy visual mods for the DS3?
