  • Ebay induction kit

Anyone have any experience with the Walkinshaw airbox/induction kit for the ds3? Stumbled across it on ebay and even with shipping it works out cheaper than the MTC/Forge equivalents. My current setup is a bit of a bodge job so I may take a punt on one of these.

The name doesn't ring a bell? So don't think I've seen/heard of one installed.
    My DS3R3... nearly....

Walkinshaw is kind of a big deal here in the v8 world. There was talk of them doing a kit for the ds3 a few years ago. Why, who knows, rumour has it someone at walkinshaw or a relative of someone there had a ds3 and wanted a racing, but we never got them so they were developing a kit for the d sport.
I saw this the other day too, and have ordered the exhaust from them which seems to be a too good to be true price, but figure it is likely stuff from a prototype run, that was then shelved seeing as the ds3 isnt exactly a common car here. Haven't gone for the induction kit as pod filters are a legal grey area here.
      Hopefully that helps a bit.

I saw the exhaust too but sadly they don't post it to the uk. Definitely going to order one of the filters though.

I 've seen it as well but there wasn't too much info...Not even a photo of the induction installed in a ds3 car...the ad on the ebay also says it does not come with instructions (very unprofessional) and also it does not mention anything about the diameter -mm and what brand of airfilter they are using
Is this induction at the same place as the oem factory airbox is?

From the looks of the piping, sticks right out of the turbo, so no.

Because they are a 'fire hazard' if they are the oiled type, apparently.
Most police here if they decided to do a random check on your car won't know the difference and will write you a ticket (plenty of good cops, but lots don't actually know all these technicalities), and we then have to pay to get the car back on the road, even if it was legal.
All that being said, I am pretty tempted to get one anyway.

That's the late Tom Walkinshaw's company, aka TWR, a well-known tuner and modifier of performance vehicles. Indeed, I had a TWR Mazda 323 4x4 turbo in the 80's, and one of his Integrale's too.

How about you do? You'll get the full answer direct rather than someone else's summary.

I remember TWR, I'm sure they prepped some of the BTCC cars back in the 80's - yep, just checked the Volvo's !

I ve asked ebay seller a few more info about this induction and he replied with the following answers:

Sorry we don’t have any performance figures for the kit. Walkinshaw never released these kits so there isn’t a lot of info they were able to provide us with.
The cone filter is a BMC (Made in Italy) air filter and the specific type used is this one: http://www.bmcairfilters.com/eng/sin...50-128/244/art
We haven’t got any photos of it installed but are trying to arrange some customers to get back to us after they have installed it.
Sorry if this wasn’t much help. If there are any other questions I can help with, please let me know.

                              Regards,

                              Adam.
