  • Not running right power, bad remap? Air filter?

Hey people! I bought a MTC Ramair airfilter/induction kit from eBay for £100 . I removed my original air filter box and the hoses connected to it and replaced it just with the cone filter and the connection for it, I connected everything up, except the air flow sensor ( which I removed the battery so it wouldn't throw up any warning lights) . I'm just wondering if this will be alright for my car, or if it will be bad for it in the long run. I have had the car remapped and the power output is apparently 197 BHP 230 LB FT. However, I don't think that it is running this power as I have had races with my friends, who have cars with less power and they still end up leaving me?

Would the air filter make my car slower? Or is the remap just crap and they have lied about figures?

    Cheers!

You've had the car remapped after fitting the air filter or before? Have you had the sensor you've removed disabled at the ECU too?

I put the air filter on prior to the map and iontophoresis think they did disable it at the ECU

I'm guessing your remap wasn't done by Jamie at SP Tuning ? If not, I'd suggest speaking to the Co that did yours and explain the concerns you have. Good luck

As suggested above, return to the remappers if you think there is an issue.

If your O2 sensor hasn't been mapped out you're going to confuse the air/fuel ratio mix which could cause some loss of power not to mention the increased likelihood to develop further mechanical issues or knocks.

no it wasn't, however, I think I'm going to get it taking out and then go to Jamie in the near future. Thanks for the response

I'm going to ask them about it, as when they drove the car, they attached something to the wheel the measure the power output, instead of a dyno. But shouldn't the power decrease through the performance test show as they had already remapped it and tested it? If that makes sense

I've never heard of power being measured accurately off a rolling road. How on earth did they get a reading on full throttle?

Every reputable mapper I've heard of uses rolling road testing and tweaking. Key word here being reputable.

If in doubt, go to the nearest rolling road (not this remap company) and grab a little ~£50 shootout. That will definitively show what your current map is achieving.

Yeah exactly! I was skeptical about the remap from the start. I'm going to book up with a reputable remapping company that i should have went to in the first place and get a dyno run. By the way the map I got was £100

I know, I know trust me, I feel equally as bad, as how you feel. In fact, I feel even worse!!

Sorry Sean, you really do get what you pay for...a reputable map such as Quantum comes out at £270.00 and I believe £250 to £300 is realistic for an E.C.U. remap. Good luck and check out Jamie at SP Tuning too as his knowledge of DS3 is vast.
