Gear stick shaft

Has anyone cut down their gear stick shaft, and made it shorter? It does seem quite tall for a sporty car.

Shortening the leverage point would mean having to put in more effort to change gear.

Have you considered an M-Tech short shifter kit to reduce the throw distance?
