  • K & N Panel Filter or Induction Kit??

Well i get my new THP 150 in a little over two weeks so thought it best to start ordering some bits for it.

I originally intended to replace the filter with a K & N but after looking at price am begining to wonder if i should stretch to an induction kit.

So my question is what are the realistic gains for both and will the induction kit provide any additional benefits over the panel filter?

I assume adequte hot air protection will be the biggest hurdle for the induction kit.

    Thanks

Induction Kit Will Give You Higher Gains... Wont Be More Than 5 - 10 Hp Mind,

Biggest Difference Will Be The Noise While Revving

If Your Worried About Heatsoak Then Stick Come Cold Air Feeds In Your Bay Or Have The Induction Kit Filter Part Down Low To The Ground ( Cleanest Coldest Air )

I have the same issue, however i live in Cyprus a very hot and dusty place and if i will go for an induction kit it must be a closed-box system. The problem is that no company has build one yet for the DS3 THP, so am waiting to see if any company will come up with a close-induction kit for the ds3 otherwise will go for the panel filter

The Green panel filter is worth 10bhp on a standard THP!!!

You are right dave..,,i also forgot to mention that my new floor carpets gave me 15bhp gain over the standard ones

Don not believe these marketing tricks and the so called gains, a panel filter no matter what brand it is WILL NOT give you more than 2bhp maximum, the indcuction cone type airfilters will give max 7-10bhp IF they are in an induction BOX (close type) or far from the engine bay to prevent hot air getting in

Sorry, that's an independant rolling road printout, nothing affiliated with a filter manufacturer. The standard DS3 panel filter is ultra restrictive. See the full thread here http://www.ds3spirit.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=998

Here the curve of my DS3, you can see the difference between the original filter and I installed the Green!

So it's 10 hp and 20 Nm of difference between the 2 curves, over the beach and in the same test conditions, only the filter is different. It is a very good score for a replacement filter alone.

At the dyno day arranged by Dave of Flashremapping, my car showed a 6bhp gain after the standard filter was swapped for a K&N panel one.

Even though the rollers showed the gain could you feel it on the road

You need to get a Pipercross cone, I got mine RR'd at Lakeside and made 210bhp!!!

In terms of power 6 bhp ain't much. I did notice an improvement in throttle response. Since having the car remapped, I experimented by swapping the K&N with the standard filter. You do notice a difference at the top of the rev range as the car seems more restricted with the factory filter fitted.

I've swapped my standard filter for an ITG filter.
Coming Saturday my THP will be on the RR again to see if there is an improvement

Standard my THP gave already 169,1 HP and 280nm (206,5 lb/ft) of torque
