  • 210bhp project help

Time has come to tune my THP a little.. I have set a target of around 205-210bhp i think it will not be that difficult.

I have a few issues-factors to consider though

I live in Cyprus, a generally hot and dusty place so i think either a panel filter or a close type induction kit will be better for my car.

I was thinking about the following:

    Induction Kit
    Forge intercooler
    Ecu tuning

My other issue is that i want my car to run 'safe'. I mean i want my car to be able to start on cold days..not to overhead etc. so i don;t want to stress it to the maximum.

I was thinking for an exhaust as well but its too expensive and too loud and will not give me much bhp for that money.

For the induction kit i've seen the forge one but the filter is sitting very low and i don't know if that;s a good idea in case there is rain or a wet road etc. Also the position of the filter am not sure how much air can get from that position. I was thinking for the bmc cold airintake or a panel filter although i don;t know if the panel filter will help me achieve my target

    Any help-guidance please?

What octane (RON) unleaded fuel is local to you in Cyprus?

Don't know how cold tge air is going to be when you place the filter next to a turbo. I was planning on building some kind of a heatshield to block some of the heat.

I've done quite a bit of testing on the dyno with panel filters and induction kits on Peugeot cars.
Best results come from cold air intake induction kits. Next best and cheapest are panel replacement type filters. With these 2 options the actual air intake temperature remains the same as ambient temperature. The worst option is to fit a direct fit induction kit, yes it will improve air flow but the air intake temperatures will rise upward of 60 degreesC. A case of 2 steps forwards and then 1 step back :\

I would seriously recommend upgrading the spark plugs to iridium plugs also.

A few people have had piston failures now that look to be related to the poor quality spark plugs.

That's what you get when you buy a high tuned turbo engined car... NO WAIT?! Never heard of that before... Think citroën saved some money on a wrong department. :s

We're working on system for the THP. The silencer is reversible, so ran in one direction it resonates, spun round the other way will be straight through giving better flow but louder.

this should be easy because the Mini can be tunned to this with a remap and xhost

I thought the THP was coming with factory standard iridium spark plugs? If that's not the case i think the manufacturer (citroen) has to name the iridium spark as compatible to be safe to use it (my opinion)

The iridium plugs are only fitted to the THP in the DS3R, Mini JCW and Peugeot RCZ, also probably in the THP 200 in the DS4 DSport.

The THP has the same plugs as the normally aspirated petrol DS3/Mini/Peugeot engines NGK PLZKBR7AG

Citroën part number 9677446980 double hex (http://www.repcotrade.com.au/images/...%20revised.JPG), so beware!

The workaround on the standard platinum plugs is to decrease the gap to 0.60mm

Glad to hear they put the irridium plugs in the racing.

You can just reduce the gap on the platinums to 0.60mm, they don't last as long, but cure the problem.

210 hp is a very easy target!

For about 215hp and 340nm of torque you need:
                              - Replacement airfilter
                              - Forge Boost Pipes
                              - ECU Remap

When you add the forge intercooler, you will get 225hp and 365nm of torque (limited)

If you want to go further, you can replace the downpipe + Cat and Catback exhaust.
With this complete setup you'll get 235hp and 390nm of torque.
At this stage you also need to replace the Clutch to get a better lifetime for the clutch.

If you want to go even further, you need to replace the turbo (for let's say the DS3R turbo)
250hp is not that hard with this turbo.
