  • Changing Seatbelts

    Hi People
Has anyone on here changed their seatbelts. I'm looking to change mine to Red belts to match the car and was wondering if they are easy to remove/re-install. The company I have contacted (FDTS) has asked me to just take the belts to them as they do not do installs. Thanks in advance

Just keep them as standard 3 point but change the colour to red. I have bought the belts but wondered how easy/tricky it was to remove the old ones and if anyone else had done it? If not, i'll give it a go and hope i don't get stuck!

I believe the belts have the emergency tightening system, not sure how it's done but in many cars there's an explosive charge that releases a spring or something like that. So be careful when removing them. From the manual:

"Depending on the nature and seriousness of the impacts, the pre-tensioning device may be triggered before and independently of the airbags. Triggering of the pretensioners is accompanied by a slight discharge of harmless smoke and a noise, due to the activation of the pyrotechnic cartridgeincorporatedin the system."

Sounds like some additional reading will be required and a battery disconnect to power those down at the v least....
