  • Foglight surrounds

Being a pain today I know, sorry!
How do you get the foglight surrounds off, are they stuck on or do I just need to give them a good pull?

You are useful aren't you, Ben should've checked bigfeets repository myself really.
It doesn't seem to cover removing the chrome surrounds but I guess pulling the assembly apart should shed some light.

I'll have a crack, thank youuu!

I just regurgitate everything I've learnt here lol. There might have been another bumper one but it didn't look like it would be the right one.

          Not to worry.
How did you do yours? did you go third party? Same with the grill, is that a plasti-dip jobby?
I know a guy that owns a body shop so I could contract him but plasti-dip seems like an attractive proposition bc I can take it off when I come to sell it.

3rd party, my local Citroen's partnered bodyshop. They did it all, so not sure if they took them off, probably did so they didn't have to mask.

It's sprayed in official Citroen paints, the red is C1 red (don't know the code, but a gloss red, non-metallic) and the black is the roof black, so EXY for mine. They sprayed the hex mesh too, so it looks super shiny and smart when clean.

I literally don't give a shit about when selling it, probably gonna go private anyway since the Evo is the next car on my list. The only thing about plastidip is that it isn't as deep a black as the other black bits, and it's matte. I think you can get a gloss topcoat but that makes it permanent IIRC. Some others have had the grille wrapped, bit of a tough job as it requires taking the chrome out and that usually breaks a lot of the clips, plus the curves between the chevrons are super tight.

              Cheers mate.
Might have a chat with the guy who did my wheels then, see if he'll spray the grill and baguettes for me.

Looking at getting a ds performance black next, do you reckon ds/Citroen will turn their noses up at mine for part-ex if it's got a cat back exhaust and has been dechromed?

Depends on the dealer you go to. As you have personalised it to your taste, it will reduce the market of who may want to buy it, so they may well give you less for it. Might be worth trying to flog it private, as you will be more likely to hit the target market for the work you have done on it and will be appreciated more that way. Having said that the dealer may just give you a standard price for the model/age/condition/mileage etc. Bit of a minefield when trading cars in. In my experience, you have an idea of what you want for it, they will always offer less than you want and then you haggle the toss until you meet halfway!

Private sale will likely be a good option, worth seeing what the PX value is though, as it might be better than the hassle of selling it yourself.

Very good advice! The 'rents just got an Astra by trading in an F reg campervan, got a really good deal - just over half what they would have got for a private sale but then they didn't need to keep running it over the winter and MOT it in spring along with the inevitable heavy repair costs.
