  • Side de-chrome, baguettes

Hi guys. I’ve been doing a few little mods to the car and yesterday I decided to use the day to plastidip the side chrome (baguettes) black. Once I had masked the area and made sure no paint was exposed which I didn’t want black I was good to go. I spent probably 2 hours on the coating part, I used 3 good coats. Then around an hour to dry before removing tape etc. I’m really pleased with the result. Just thought I’d share with you guys as there’s very little information about people painting these side chrome parts. Cheers

Just to add, I’ve now got to de chrome the door handles, bit attached to the wing mirror. And the front grille. And when I get the money I’m going to have the wheels painted all black with red calipers. Think it will look good when fully completed.

You could try plastidip for the handles but it would need redoing very often. Vinyl plus heat gun and a lot of patience might be better.
