Walnut blasting? Terraclean? additives? Which type?

I've only heard of Terraclean for diesel engines. Although at my last dealer service I had an "engine flush" that cost me nowt. Not exactly sure what it involved, but it seemed to improve the smoothness slightly. I add a bottle of diesel clean additive to my almost empty tank before a fill up with premium fuel every couple of months too, just to keep it as clean as I can. Not sure if it helps, but it feels like it does. Every little helps right?
