Performance after remap

Hi guys, this is my first post and I’m just after a little bit of advice and information if possible please. I have a 11 plate DSport HDi which I had stage 1 remapped a week ago. I was led to believe that this should give me a bhp increase from 110bhp to 140bhp. I’m just wondering wether I should be notice any difference from a standing start and up through 2nd and 3rd gear? To me it feels exactly the same as it did before the apparent remap. I’m not sure if I’m just imagining a bit more poke in 4th?

The place where I took it (I’m in Tavistock, Devon.) had problems remapping it saying the ecu had to be removed from the car and split open for them to access the board. I saw the ecu on a workbench connected to a pc when they where explaining to me the problems they were having.

Does this sound right and should I notice the difference in power straight away? I never had a before and after printout of the work which I was expecting.

You should definitely feel the difference in power straight away. I don't have a diesel but friends who do have commented on how much fun their journey home was after a remap - I'm sure Funky can advise

Cracking the ECU is what I would expect, but I'd be concerned about the lack of before/after Dyno graphs, especially as you said you can't really feel a difference where did you get it done? Might be worth having a chat/taking a trip to see Jamie at SP Tuning.

These are usually pretty torquey motors in all gears...have it dyno’d to see what it’s doing.
Speak to your tuner with your concerns.

Hi Eefee35 and welcome. Yep like Kat says I had my 115 e-HDi remapped by Jamie@SPTuning above. The difference is very noticeable straight away and you should've got a before and after dyno graph and mine has ran so so sweet since its been done. That's just my experience, but then I did go to the best.

should only really go to a provider that can illustrate the gains they claim

That's why I don't buy these "performance tuning" boxes on ebay and that
It just cant be proved- unless I go to a dyno

and would tell any seller that if it wasn't proven gains on a dyno, would want money back

You should certainly feel the difference

And yes, some ECU have to be reprogrammed on a bench, and have some protection to get thru

Thanks to all who have replied. It seems that from what you are all saying I should notice a difference in the car straight away. The place I took it to in Tavistock are ecu remapping specialist so it wasn’t a back street garage. I know most of you on here recommend Jamie SPTuning but because I’m down here in Devon it would’ve meant a long way to go to take it to him.

i think I’m going to go back to the garage tomorrow and speak to them and see what they say. I’ll ask them to put it on the dyno to see what the result is. I’ll post a update and let you know what they say.

boring drive up exciting drive back, I will always travel far  for mapping because its the icing on the car especially with me  having other modifications done, with the  diesel torque you will feel the difference in all gears. I use to take a seven hour round trip for mapping.
