Now dont bite my head off- am sure you get what you pay for- but- £200+ seems a lot of money for a bit of hose and a cone filter
Can anyone explain why to Mr Ignorant (Me)

You get more power innit!? In all seriousness the engine will breathe better with one of these fitted. A tiny bit more power as a result, and I can imagaine a better acceleration note as well. If I ever get my motor back, I may consider fitting one of these!

Not about power only- raspier engine noise. Without a map you might get 5 or 6 BHP gain but an induction kit makes your engine sound very meaty indeed

If you're after one there's a lad selling ALL of his forge gear on here- induction kit, intercooler, dump valves, hoses etc. Look for Mikeyb.

You will need to take it off for warranty services and that though

That may be worth a look. Need to get my car back from possible engine failure first!

                What fault did it have?

If you don;t get an induction kit (they are a bit pricey) then get a panel filter. Alot cheaper and you can definitely feel the difference in your engine. I got a pipercross foam filter, 35 quid and worth every penny. Engine noise changes slightly and car's alot smoother at lo revs. Then again mines also in for a custom remap tomorrow.

Hesitation, oil vapour round the rocker cover, lumpy acceleration. Apparantly the usual fault with the THP engine!

That might be better for me as I havn't made my mind up on keeping the car yet. Can always swap out the filter with very little effort before the warranty service then.

Yep, sounds like the standard stuff from what I've heard. Panel filter is a 10 min job literally. Stardrive screw driver for the box and flat head for the tubing. Very simple.

Looked at Pipercross web site and couldn't find any for DS3's?

                          Cheers

As mine is the "90" with smaller turbo I think I need to check if the air filter is the same

Oh, you're a diesel? Not sure how different the filter is- Zack will know, he remapped his 90 to about 150 or something.

even the induction kit won't take longer as 40mins That's what it took me and I was struggling getting the original filterbox out, so u should be able to do it in like 30-35 mins.

It does make your turbo blowing off sound very loud. as if u had a blow-off valve installed lol.
