  • Remap with Lease Car?

    Afternoon,

I have recently ordered a DSport Plus THP on a 2 year lease plan, due for delivery in February.

Is is a bad idea to get it remapped or have people managed to get away with it?

    Cheers

When you sign for a lease car you are entering into a legal contract with the finance company, you must check with them first as the legal ramifications are huge if you try 'to get away with it' because the remap voids the warranty on the car.

Do what you want but you'll have to pay if what you altered caused any problems

          Remaps are reversible anyway

Is it quite common to remap the 150 THP or do most find that its adequate as it is?

Think you mean 155THP, if you're getting a 150THP be be very concerned as they finished production last year!

Doh! I keep saying that as well

Is there any different between the two?

A remap can be taken off even easier than put on

There are several on here that have had software upgrades and the remap was not seen by the dealers, just overwritten, then just the pain of having the map put back on again (For free from what I understand)

And is a remap worth it? - drive your car and see what you think as a stock car.

But as someone on here said- surely you always want it to go faster?

Very true, I think I will see how it goes stock and take it from there. Thanks

Technically not correct, the dealer will know as the new diagnostic equipment can see the change in software code and plus the ECU data is now transmitted to Citroen and logged with their servers. Most dealers won't worry about the remap as they know any update will re-write the map back to stock. The issue will arise from making a serious warranty claims as Citroen will check the logs and the ECU is fully examined.

                      I'm not against remaps what I'm against is the idea of trying to get 'sneaky' freebies out of the warranty while the remap is in place, in my opinion this is the definition of fraud;

Right- so people with mapped vehicles, would be best advised to get the remap removed, and put back to stock, before going into dealers for software changes?
Does that include vehicle annual services?

Bet CYCLONE not gonna like the above comments
They upgraded his software, without telling him. Then he had to get the map put back on. So thats his engine warranty knackered then?

If there is a known vehicle problem (Like loads on here without remaps) then why should the manufacturers get away with that because youve had a remap? But thats just my opinon. Wonder if someones had a remap, something falls off the engine, then the remap gets blamed and warranty voided

Mods Ive had done Ive spoken to the dealer first to get their OK. IE New exhaust, means warranty on exhaust is void
New Catalytic converter, means warranty on OEM Cat void (Makes senses)
However, I do understand your point Biggie, just dont agree

:cooloesn't bother me at all Chris. I have done a lot to my car and know the ramifications of my actions also my map is declared on the cars papers, was never trying to hide it. Mind you; if I DID have a problem and Citroen DID pay for it wouldn't complain.

Xpect there will be a fair few more mapped DS3s after 3 yr warrantys are up
