  • Advice on getting twin-exhaust look

    Hi all,

Please be gentle - i am absolutely new to "modding" and i have searched the forum but cant find exactly what i want...

I simply want to convert the single exhaust pipe of my DStyle+ to a double / dual exhaust. Purely for sporty aesthetic reasons.

What is the best way of going about this? Can you buy dummy tubes?

    Thanks!

You would have to cut the end off or buy a complete back box

      you could go this way

or do what i did and go for stainless steel back box only

I think i will probably just need to take it somewhere for someone to do it for me! Any suggestions near Bury / Bolton / Blackburn?

rear part of the exhaust. it bolts onto the engine at front then runs through a box in the middle and then through a box at the back ( look under the car you`ll see it) basically you would have to get a new box at the back. the boxes reduce noise from the engine / exhaust etc

Halfords could probably do it for you.

They have a few universal fit back boxes in at most places. Not aware of any custom places near us.

                    I dont mind having either;

Double exhaust at right hand side

                    Or

                    Double exhaust in the centre

                    Or

Two Single exhausts - one at each side

Would the rear diffuser need trimming as the opening looks smaller on the DStyle compared to the DSport.

Yes I think you're looking at cutting the diffuser on the DStyle, if you wanted to change the side the exhaust is on that's even more work

I was thinking that the twin exhaust diffuser has a wider mouth than the single exhaust models. Perhaps it is possible that there are moulding marks that are on the inside of the diffuser that could be used as a guide for trimming it a bit wider.
I have a DSport tailpipe to fit one day, so am following this thread with interest.

Why is everyone over-complicating the question ?

If you have the DStyle then whatever option you go down the diffuser will have to be slightly trimmed, mine was and the custom exhaust centre did this for me - took 5 seconds... You'll also need to cut the existing pipe at some point...

You have a couple of options:-

                            1. Buy a DS3 DSport backbox, the twin-tailpipe is attached to this and you'll just swap your existing backbox for this one - will require a simple weld to attach it to the existing exhaust pipe.

                            2. Cut the tailpipe off your existing exhaust and fit a new one - either a weld or a bolt-on from Halfrauds ( Chavtastic + cheapest option )

                            3. Get a custom exhaust system made up, with this you'll get exactly what you want ( Best option ).

                            4. Have an aftermarket exhaust fitted by someone like Miltek ( ££££££££ ).

                              Cut off tail pipe
                              Cut out 60mm more trim
