  • Bought some Snow Socks today....

Nothing like thinking ahead- got caught twice earlier this year, couldn't get up a slight hill close to my home
Not nice leaving the DS3, 200 yards away from home that you cant see

So how you fit these things? - is it just plop em over the wheel. Can do it on wheels that are not on the car
Its not so easy when the wheel is on the car.

No instructions either...bought them at a car boot we were working at

Bargain at a fiver a pair- just wanna know how to fittem LOL

Wheel on car I presume, then do you have to " drive into them" so to speak- how get bottom bit on- sure theres a knack

Assuming you have the correct size snow socks they really are quite simple (and fitting is as you state).

Plenty of video/guides available via Google although lowering of your suspension will hamper the ease of fitting as you'd expect.

I was lucky in that the set that fitted my Astra SRi, fiancee's Corsa also fit my DS3

        WARNING:
If you drive on Tarmac with them...they will be destroyed in seconds
For me..the more expense of winter tyres is better value

Ah- maybe. But I got stuck in 6 inches snow earlier this year. And when I was at the start of my journey it was sunny, blue sky, and roads were dry

Sometimes best to have a safety measure stashed in the boot?

I don't doubt their usefulness in an emergency......but I would always advocate Winter Tyres for ALL conditions and road surfaces when temperatures are below 7C

Fair comment- but winter tyres, good ones cost, and keep them as spare rest of year?
Fine if you can do that
Gonna stick to my Fiver socks LOL

Here is a tip Chris do not drive in Germany in the winter with your summer tires. Even with your snow socks on if someone ran into you no fault of yours you would also get a fine for not having tires on the car that were fit for the conditions. Need snow tires or all season tires in the winter.

Did you check the link I posted Chris, shows how easy they are to fit, assuming you don't lower your car anyway lol

Wow I didn't even know there are such thing as snowsocks. I'm with cyclone on this one, here in Finland we also have the mandatory winter tyres. I drive with studded (google translate on this one) tyres from Nov until May.
