  • Exhaust with out catalyst mod

I am planning to have my first mod for my ds3 thp , a full exhaust upgrade with out catalyst

(downpipe - center -rear , all with stainless steel 63mm pipes)

I will also have a middle silencer box for eliminating as much noise as possible

I was wondering if this mod will cause any trouble to the engine-turbo ? is there any risk of running the engine with out a catalyst?

Also in terms of performance is it worth doing it?

In answer to your question.......that's a good question will let the techies answer that one!

To state it simply no it will not hurt the turbo or engine. Will need some work on the cars computer so you do not have a constant engine warning light and a remap to take advantage of the free flowing exhaust. Also will not pass an emissions test but you probably knew that all ready.

Hi never had a warning light on mine sence I had my hangar111 sports cat fitted. But don't know if you do not have a cat at all if light comes on.

The turbo will work better without any back pressure from a catalyst. Will actually help the life of the Turbo

I got 11 BHP with a 63.5mm exhaust fitted (With mid resonator) and a sports cat (Freer flowing, but not as free flowing as "No catalyst" and just the downpipe)
Best mod for improved performance without upsetting the warranty IMO
No warning light on mine either, but it adheres to emissions test (Milltek Cat) so there shouldn't be any problems with the sensor. Didn't need the ECU mapped either

Your not based UK though Eagle are you?

Top is OEM THP 155 exhaust
Bottom is 63.5 mm Bastuck exhaust (Sports Cat added later, so too a mid res Ha!)

Hi DS3r- as you know mine seemed well loud without a mid res Ha!
I do miss the louder sound at lower speeds (Used to turn a few heads round town) but the higher speeds, under load up a hill, were tooooo loud LOLOL

If Eagle wants me to, I can post up a vid of my exhaust sound as it was on the 150 (Same exhaust)

A sport cat and no cat are 2 completely different things. He will get a engine warning light and he will not pass emissions. Eagle posts a thread about a cat delete and sports exhaust and you guys go on about your sport cats IT'S NOT THE SAME AT ALL.

I've been running de-cat since April.
                      +more power
                      +less backpressure
                      +deep exhaust sound
-complains from other people about the deep sound
                      -emission tests fail
                      -exhaust smells bad

I have a modded map with 2nd lambda adjusted, though I tried without the map and did not get any CEL. However it takes some driving before the CEL (at least few hundred kms) will lid up anyways.

And yes, cyclone is correct like always. Sports cat is totally different thing than de-cat.

Being mine is leased, is there a simpler/cheaper way to get a littlemore sound
                            without messing with cats/lambdas?
                            Rear box change only?
Is there a pic of the whole system layed out (on a floor or as a microfisch thing) ??
Mine just starts to make a decent rasp and then it stops, not bad but when you're in
the mood just a tad too refined
