yes, you build it up in coats as normal letting it dry before applying the next layer; then after the last coat (while the last coat is still wet) you peel the tape off.

You say that, but it looks like you can come close to it using come mesh and plastidip: (I've not tried this one though)

Yeah. Ha. Cant see how it works if the plastidip underneath is dry- but will give it a go when the weathers better for playing with cars.
