Hi there Iam changing my dsport seats to full leather today , but when I went to disconnect the positive and negative terminals , I can't get to negative there are all these other cables going into a smaller box on top of the battery cover ? Will disconnecting the positive terminal only be ok to do the job or will I have to disconnect neg and pos ? As the positive is the only one I can get to , I want to leave the battery off for at least 30 mins for the airbags in the seats ,,?? Thanks Alan

Just removing the positive will be fine. To test this, remove positive and try and switch on ignition with the key. No lights should appear and car won't start. Now you can change your seats.😉

Cheers mate with people saying dissconect both I was worried just removing pos might cause airbag deployment when I unhooked / hooked seat connectors back up ,, the last car I worked on about 20 yr ago the neg and pos were clearly bistable non of this extra wiring on top of battery cover ,,those were the days lol[SIGPIC][/SIGPIsigpicC]

Out of curiosity how do you access the negative terminal on the battery to disconnect it I can't even see it especially with that other box of wires directly connected to the top of the battery cover ,, ?? Mines a 110 hdi[SIGPIC][/SIGPIsigpicC]

You don't want to be messing with the negative point as it houses all the feeds for the stop start system. Just disconnect the positive and you'll be fine.

You have to strip down the connector box to get the battery out, never that simple these days is it.
As for airbags just having the ignition switched off would have been fine but health and safety/common sense and all that.
If I need to disconnect the battery for any reason just lift the plastic flip lid, release the battery cable and click the cover back in place so the cable can't touch the battery terminal whilst working on it.
Turning the ignition on whilst any airbag component is disconnected will not cause anything to deploy, however a fault light will remain until the memory has been cleared with a diagnostic tool.White on red THP
