  • Blue sidelight and headlight bulbs

Where can I get some that are road legal but still have a good blue tint?

  • #2
You can't, because blue lights on the front of a non emergency are illegal. But have you thought of this - http://www.flyeyeskit.co.uk/ or - http://www.spi-vision.co.uk/. These are available in different colours.

Not a helpful answer. There are definitely road legal versions with a blue tint. I've seen some in shops and many people use them on the road.

          Ones like these? http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/pro...ulb_search=car

if not, I imagine you mean HID's which are illegal in your car as they are not projectors.

Sidelight ones are illegal, because all they usually are is coloured LED's & you will get pulled for those.

The Osrams above you will have no issues with. I have Limited Edition Osram Nightbreakers with extra blue tint. Makes sod all difference if I'm honest. But the actual bulb is a lot better regards seeing the road.

As Tom says, best of with normal LED's, you can get once with a slight blue tinge to them, but don't go for bull blue ones. They're not worth the hassle

Definitely go with LED's - Go for 4300K CREE LEDS - Look on Fleabay - something like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-HIGH-POW...item3a8b295e2d

Retrofitting HID's in the DS3 is not a good idea as you get too much light scatter, even with the metal based, short H7R bulbs you can now get - the headlight units simply are not suited to them. It is nothing to do with them not being projectors as many manufacturers use discharge lighting in reflector units; Citroen, Renault, Volvo, Nissan and Honda to name a few - but they have been designed to use the HID bulbs so have the perfect beam pattern. I have several HID conversion kits, that have been in many cars over the years and the DS3 simply is not suited to the mod as you dazzle other road users - I know this as have tried them in my DS3!! (for a VERY short time!)

For a nice blue tinge the Ring Sportz Blue are good - But for actual light on the road, Osram Nightbreakers are by far the best option.

                  HTH!
