  • Roxy the purple DS3

My start point and why I don't tend to post photos of it:

Whisper brown is the normal colour...

    Anyway 2.5 hours later...

Would be nicer, if all the finish wasn't lifting on the plastic chrome, the wheels weren't corroding and there wasn't a bleb of rust on the passenger door...but it's come up nice.

Very nice. Can't you get the wheels replaced under warranty?

Very possibly, well one of them, the other has kerbing damage so chances are it'd get turned down for replacement even though an undamaged wheel has also gone.

Wheel centre, they've never been off the car. Wonder if they would replace the lozenges under warranty...both sides have gone like cheap ebay chrome mirrors.

Ah mines got that on the drivers side door! Only noticed in the rain the other week as it went round the bump, was going to see the cost on getting it fixed, citroen said they knew it was there when they sold me the car! Wish they had mentioned it as I missed it!!

Hoping the bubble won't burst, or a repair isn't going to break the bank will know more next week off to my local garage for a quote.

Try some cleaning clay on the chrome bits, mine get that look to them and and the clay seams to clean it off when normal washing doesn't even touch it.

Autoglym Super Resin Polish also works (with a bit of elbow grease).

Does it take several applications? I did them with it at the same time as doing the body but tbf I didn't give it too much of a rub incase it took the finish off.

It definitely takes some effort if you've left it a while. Last time I did my baguettes it had been a couple of months since I had a chance to clean them properly, I put on a good thick coating of SRP, left it for a few mins, then buffed off with a microfibre. It varies on how many attempts it takes but it should eventually bring up a shine again. I don't think you'll take the finish unless you used sandpaper, SRP isn't a harsh polish IMO.

It's just one of those things, with it being the mrs car it's easier to explain why it's still dirty rather (not that she would notice) than why the chrome bits aren't anymore. Next time I get a couple of hours with it I shall give them another go.

On another note the SRP brought the whisper purple up a treat, it didn't look that good when it arrived!

If that is rust they'll sort that under warranty... 12 years iirc?

The wheels... i think it's pot luck which dealer you go to.

I'd give the chrome trims a try at the dealer too...

Seems to be a fault with the paint on the drivers doors.. Both our cars are now booked in for door repairs under waranty..my wife's chrome on both sides is also being replaced as it has tarnished, car is about 10 moths old

Well 1st service today all 4 wheels are a warranty job which is a bonus as OH kerbed one. Managed to get the strips silver, will almost look like a 12 month old car that's done 5k once the wheels are on.

Decided I should give it a bit of a tidy given it'll look ridiculous when the new wheels finally do arrive if it looks "farmyard fresh"

Would probably benefit from a good polish, seal and wax..but ran out of day light.
