No, the car has a built in phone for these functions. It also has built in gps. In the event of an accident greater than a certain level of seriousness ( not sure of the full details ) the SOS system will automatically contact the call centre and can send your location details, so if you're unconscious and unable to speak to the operator the system can still get emergency services to you.

If it's the same as mine they are a Citroen assist button and an SOS button, I really should look up the difference between the two, but I know one calls the AA in the event of my DS3 breaking down....

Does d buttons stil works if car battery runs flat?
