Was bored last night so went out on the hunt for locations and did this, was disappointed when I got here as I realised I forgot my light painting tool so had to use just flash and timing
Any chance you would impart how you set-up and settings to us just mere amateurs?
actual camera settings are quite easy really it's the editing afterwards that is the hard part.
Equipment needed:
Sturdy tripod is essential, can't line the images up (or you can but very difficult) without one.
A camera where you can use manual focus helps
A remote shutter release helps but a timer function works aswell.
Settings:
for this image I went with an aperture of F7.1 because I wanted the car in focus and the background slightly out of focus (if you want it more out of focus or bokeh, then a lower apeture is to be selected).
For shutter speed you want to vary it depending what part of the frame you are concentrating on. I start with the background and make it a little darker.
Then usually make it a bit longer and use the flash gun, at night your probably looking at around 2second exposure so you can get a few flashes popped off.
always review the images, personally I do it after every pic but after a few is ok.
Take loads of pics but concentrating on a certain section of the car, nothing worse than getting home to find you missed a section of the car.
then for editting I am not going to try and go through it but here is a video that I used as a starting point.
