      have a look HERE

There is a document 'removing and refitting rear brake pads' The image in the document shows the piston tool being turned clockwise, but the text says anti-clockwise.

I seem to recall that both sides are turned clockwise

Excellent.. Thanks. I have ordered a left hand threaded wind back tool.
Hopefully fingers crossed this is the right one.. Will post back once I've tried it..

Don't you need a right hand threaded tool, which advances and pushes the piston back as you turn clockwise?

Perhaps I'm wrong - it was a while back when I did it, and my kit contains both left hand and right hand thread tools so I can't be absolutely sure which one I used

Someone on here must know for certain!!!!

Looks like Citroen's not sure! The service documentation says anticlockwise in "removing -refitting: rear brake pads", clockwise in "removing - refitting: rear brake caliper". They specify the same wind-back tool for both - logically, I'd expect two different tools for left- & right-hand threads.

I've had a few cars with Colette rear calipers. Although there's a number of different handbrake mechanisms every one I've worked on has wound back clockwise on both sides. I can't really see any need for different rotations, as the piston is not subjected to any rotational force in use - making two different types would incur extra costs in tooling, inventory, etc.

Disclaimer: just because I've never seen one it doesn't mean they don't exist!

Turns out the ds3 is right hand thread.. After I just bought the
Left hand thread wind back tool..
