Back onto this annoying ticking/clicking sound my cars been fine for maybe shirt of a week untill now, yep on way home 3rd gear slowing down tick tick tick to the speed of the wheels. Had enough of citroen garage now been there too many times! Going to contact CUK because its obviously a common fault with out hdi's and i keep getting fobbed offObsidian Black/Carmen Red

I am still convinced the ticking noise on over run is the alternator belt tensioner! Until I get my own changed we wont know...
As for the rough idle and hesitation I was getting, the car got a service, and I have been running it on my usual BP Ultimate Diesel but also now with some Millers EcoMax added and it seems all good!? I can only put it down to a fuel filter or dirty injector?
I seen someone saying about the ticking on throttle, the 1.6hdi engine is notorious for blowing by the injector seals? could be the problem!

I really think its the diff causing the clicking noise when slowing down in gear, im far from being a mechanic or anything but ive done alot of looking up on the internet and other forums. People having same problems and describing the noise going away when pressing the clutch down but coming back when coming off again.
Question is will citroen strip my car down and actually check for this, or will i get fobbed off again as usual?! I really want a remap aswell but looks like my 110 cant handle what its already producing without breaking!Obsidian Black/Carmen Red

Just been reading this thread, found it interesting as my DS3 sport HDi has had to have all 4 fuel injectors replaced, so glad I took out the extended warranty. The first time 2 injectors had to be replaced after I reported an issue with a fault message on my esp coming on whilst driving and not too long before the service was due I had a few unexplained jerks in 2nd and 3 gears (no not my driving !!!). This fault came up about a month after the 3 year warranty expired. Cost of replacing the fuel injectors was approx £1,400. At my last service in January again I had problems with the ESP fault light coming on when I started the car but the battery was 5.5 years old and apparantly this is a known error message with low voltage. Halfords didn't want to sell me a battery as they said it was fine so I put the car in for service a few weeks early only to be told the battery was fine and to weather it out for the rest of winter and change it in the summer. Anyway after running the diagnostics the other 2 fuel injectors were out of tolerance and had to be replaced, but apart from the battery issue the car had been running fine, there were some slight issues when I accelerated but it was only a second or two and I put this down to me being hyper-sensitive to its running and maybe imagining it. When I asked the mechanic whether they were likely to want replacing again he said " none of the ones we've replaced have had to be redone" and from that I take it issues with the fue

Injector issues
Hi all, my lovely hubby got me a 2010 ds3 hi for my birthday the end of March. Loved it was like being a kid again, until 3 weeks later the engine began to shake. Took it back to the dealer and he fixed an engine mount. To my horror on my way home i stopped at traffic lights and the car was shaking so badly I was scared to drive it. So back it went, another engine mount waa fixed and I thought that would be the end of it. No 3 days ago my engine management light came on saying esp/asr system fault. So a took it to my local guy to put it on the machine. He rang today saying the codes showing are injector faults and he doesn't want to touch it. So I rang the dealer even though it's now 2 weeks past its warranty, luckily he's agreed to look at it. What I need to know is if he refuses to fix it could I be looking at a lot of dosh. I've only this car 4 months and tbh I just want rid of it. Worse car I ever had so far. Be really grateful for any help.

That's really unfortunate as the diesels are usually very reliable and very cheap to run. The owners of those DS3s often say it's the best car they've ever had.
You're probably best off waiting for the news and seeing what the quote to fix it is, and then at that point weigh up the options and see if it's worth it to fix or if a new car would be more viable.
Bear in mind that a 2010 diesel will still be quite valuable and if you go for another car, then that one may well throw up even more faults. At least if you fix a 7 year old car you know that it won't throw up that issue again in the time you own it. Imagine you chop this car in, get a new one, upgrading slightly, and then the new one ends up with the exact same problem. You've lost money and got nowhere with it.
I've been in a similar situation lately with several faults rearing their heads at once, and was considering trading in, but the mechanic says it's definitely worth a £700 fix for a 61 plate car. Cars go wrong, you can get lucky or you can get unlucky. Try not to get too love/hatey about it, that's been my main failing when dealing with these faults.

Hard to tell, if it only started playing up for you after you bought it then they likely wouldn't have known. Hopefully you'll at the very least get the costs partially covered as a goodwill gesture.
