  • So confused... Fuel gauge

I reset my trip meter each time I fill up so I know how much I'm getting from each tank. I last reset mine in June 3rd when I put in a full tank, and have done about 470 miles.
I'm very confused as I still have 4 bars of fuel left, approximately 180 miles, left, and I NEVER get that much from my 1.6 ehdi.
I had the car serviced on the 6th, (it's first service) and I called to ask if they filled it up, which they denied. I definitely haven't, I even checked my bank statement as I thought I must be losing my marbles.
I definitely reset it when I refuelled it, so I'm really stumped.
Is my fuel gauge broken maybe? What else could it be? Surely it's fuel economy hasn't improved that much after a service!?

500+ miles out of a tank with a 1.6 eHDI is not unusual if you drive economically .

I get around 530ish in my 115ehdi at the mo, I have the ac on all the time and am enjoying spirited driving . When I filled up tonight I could only get 42 litres in so there was still 6 litres in the tank

I get 500 ish yet, but 4 bars with almost 500 already indicates 700 ish. Plus my mpg is still saying 58.7 which is what it says when I get 500 ish. Surely that would go up too if I was going to get 700 miles from a tank?

I agree it should have increased if you're going to get 700 miles on a tank

How unusual, someone complaining of better milage. Just kidding. Don't jump to conclusions wait and see what it does on the next couple of tanks.

Ha, definitely not complaining, just confused and hoping I don't run out of fuel due to a faulty fuel gauge!

I got my 2014 1.6 ehdi air dream on Saturday. Dealer put a full tank in as part of the deal. I've done just coming up to 500 miles in it this week and I'm one bar down from the half way point and getting around 57.5mpg so far. So that sounds about right to me, as it's about what I have done? That's one of the main attractions for me, as I do so many miles, that I get a lot out of a tank! I would have had to fill my focus up by now, and that was an Economical 50mpg!

That was one of the temptations! Can't wait to see how many miles I get to a tank now!

I do find, at-least on my 110eHDI, that the last 3 bars disappear a lot quicker than the range prediction...

I've had a 200 mile range before and barely managed to achieve 100...

Am averaging 450-470miles on a tank atm...

Diesel engines use less fuel with more kilometers on the clock..when i bought mine with a fuel tank I managed 370 miles (city+open road). Now i have 11.500km on the clock and I manage 500 miles. My mechanic said that after 40.000km I will see even better fuel economy!

Average tank mileage is 530ish currently, not a lot of motorway driving. On a motorway run I can get over 600miles (with AC on as well) on a tank
