My first car (well old) did that then when I first got it, never experienced it since but the feeling was quite noticeable. If you're driving it again I'd see if you can cope with the clutch position should you buy it

Mine is two weeks old and compared to the focus I had before, the biting point is very high. I've got used to it now and don't give it a second thought. I drove a year old ds3 for a couple of weeks and the biting point was the same as my new one.

Yep its definitely high compared to some cars, think it's just a citroen thing. I had two C4's before the racing and they were both the same so nothing to worry about

It's very very high, but it's completely normal. I didn't notice until I drove a Volkswagen Polo for a bit, I came back to my DS3 and the biting point felt extremely high compared to the polo. It also caught me out after driving a transit for a day.
I took it in to the dealer because I was also having problems with the pedal being squeaky and they said that the clutch position was completely normal for the vehicle.

So there you have it, it's high, but it's normal.
Great, thank you Richard, looks like I'll probably be going ahead with the purchase!
Just to confirm from a dealer POV the 'bite' point is normally only a short push on the peddle, very normal for Citroen. Also means then you don;t have to sink the peddle to change gear, after a few drives you will learn to shallow press
...I should never have doubted the Lord of Bacon!!
Thanks for the quick reply! Hmmmm well I've just been driving a Megane sport and the bite is very very low on that. May be making this seem unusually high. I'm not sure though, it's hard to tell
I came from a RS182 to DS3 and my biting point even from brand spanking new is unusually high compared to the RS. The OH says is FUBAR'd but he only drives it every so often and he has a RS172 which the biting point is virtually on the floor!

I wouldn't worry!
Nothing worse then an 'on/off' switch clutch.... in my opinion of course.

Slightly related, but does every DS3's revs fluctuate slightly when you've just touched your foot on the accelerator, before engaging first? Not in idle - you've got to add the tiniest bit with your right foot....
There are only three kinds of people in this world... Those who can count, and those who can't...
