Headlight Bulb Change

Hi guys, just fitted some Osram Nightbreaker to my car...these to be exact: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 but they don't seem that white, they still seem very yellow?

On my dipped beam, the actual headlight fitting seems to have a little cover over the end of the bulb, do i actually need this?

I had some Philips Xtreme Power bulbs and they never seemed much better than standard. In my C2 they were a lot whiter though. I think others have said the same. Don't know why.

presumably its something to do with the beam pattern and or reflectivity of the unit itself?
