The part looks to be around £450 to buy but the procedure for replacing it is a little complicated hence the overall price quoted.

LOL, yeah if only we could I think though they may well notice something is amiss!

No, will have to just take it on the chin and get it sorted. Thanks to BF though I at least know what the part is and what is involved in replacing it. I could actually do all that myself. Only thing I am not sure of is the programming/initialization part.

Will get the job priced up at our local Citroen specialists (Chevronics, Hitchin) as it's bound to be cheaper than the dealers £996.

Well local Citroen specialist can't do it. Apparently short staffed for the next two weeks. Suggest I use the Citroen dealer!

Anyone know any good independent's in and around North Herts?

Tried another French car specialists and they said they won't touch anything to do with the Stop/Start system. I'm thinking that may be actually what Chevronics were thinking also but didn't want to say as much.

Got the parts list from the Citroen dealer. It's not just one part which is why the price is so high. Labour was actually not too bad. It breaks down as follows :

            Part Number C9801739380 - ULTRACAPACIT £86.40

            Part number C9802073580 - NEGATIVE CAB £118.51

            Part Number C9780HN - SOCKET £11.65

            Part Number C6588J3 - PROTECTOR £3.17

            Part Number C6588J2 - UNIR SUPPORT £22.10

            Part Number C9678273280 - UNIT £395.45

            Part Number C6599YK - ADD LOOM £26.00

            Part Number C564666 - NEGATIVE CAB £51.06

            Part Number C564679 - POWER CABLE £8.83

Labour time is 2.5 hrs at £91.23 per hour

Can't see any way this is not going to cost us a fortune at the moment

I had same problem on mine had belt and tensioner replaced and still wouldn't work and warning light on. There is a small plastic gear that the stop/start needs and mine was worn so small that the car needed a new one. Changed and sorted.

The thread is a bit old but since I am experiencing the same - where is this wheel that needs to be changed?

Hi mart1nn . Firstly, welcome to the club and forum. This thread is nearly 4 years old so it's unlikely the OP is active on the forum (although there there a still a few "club veterans" active on here ). I can't advise on the issue, but have you checked out link in Bigfeet 's post #16? Does this document download help at all?

I am still about and check in from time to time. Don't have a DS3 at the moment although was considering buying one recently but ended up with an S-Type Jag instead..go figure! Anyway my DS3 stop/start issues was solved by negotiating the cost of repair down from £900 to £500 and as I was pressed for time I went with that and the car went back to the leasing company the day after it was repaired. Stop/Start is a complete waste of time in my opinion. I have had it on three cars now and it has made bugger all difference to the fuel consumption figures. The only thing is does is get in the way and cost a fortune to fix when it goes wrong.

                        Tend to agree.

Thought it would be helpful- then when you depress the clutch to pull away from the lights, it takes 2 seconds to get going, annoying the cars behind

And then when you are sitting there silently, pondering the world and looking out the window, bleeding thing jumps into life

Suppose it helps with the emissions. Not much I suspect

I tend to turn it off now

I would still buy a DS3 though as that stop/start thing was the only real issue I had in the two years the car was with us. We did around 38k during that two years and it was such a fun car to drive. So...may yet end up with another, who knows?

I can't remember off hand but I am pretty sure not all models have Stop/Start. I have a vague memory of looking for stop/start as a feature on the DS3 we wanted so must have been an option but I am sure others can confirm etc?
