  • Warranty claims?

    Hi
Hope someone can advise on a couple of problems i have with a 2012 DS3 which i picked up yesterday - spent the weekend detailing it which is when they were noticed

o/s/r light - was full of water - no cracks, seal intact (dried out as best as i could and applied grease around the seal for now)
o/s/f headlight - when changing the bulbs i noticed the insides (reflector housing) was loose as though something is missing (it flaps about) - no damage noticed on the light?
n/r/s chrome side strip - peeling away slightly - tried heating the strip/ tape but it wouldn't stick properly
n/s door mirror - chrome part which sits against door bubbling quite badly

I'm really wanting to know if these will be covered by the warranty and do i have to book the car into the dealers for them to say yes then rebook it when the parts are in stock - i can only get to the dealers at weekends which makes it awkward

    Thanks

Seems that good luck just can't stop following you around pal😞
Sound like warranty issues to me. Hopefully Bigfeet will be able to assist in the morning for you

i know - the only luck i have is bad

The car also needs 2 new tyres which is another bummer and it took most of yesterday afternoon to clean it inside and out - not sure what the previous owner did with it but it was filthy on the front seat backs and the arches were caked in mud, this is after the dealers "valet" where they even washed the seats (hate to think what they were like before?)
Spent today claying and waxing which has brought the paint up great, hardly any swirls, no scratches but 1 chip on the drivers door and 2 tiny dinks on the o/s/r wing (might give dentmaster a call?)
Also fitted led bulbs, autosol'd the tailpipe and cleaned under the bonnet (ok i'm finiky)

New tyres going to be ordered this week so if the above are under warranty it has the making to be a nice looking car for a cheap price

Did you not view the car before you agreed to buy it?

Nope - as usual bought over internet/ phone subject to test drive - i had a look around but the lights and mirror chrome weren't that obvious unless i was looking for them - i only noticed the headlight when fitting new bulbs and the rear light when removing it to clean behind (yes i am that picky) - the mirror i saw when bent down claying the door panel.
I asked about the damp seats and they said they clean all the interiors - hmm only the dirty ones?
The side strip is only peeling at the back end very slightly - i might peel it off and put some new double sided tape on (do they just pull off?)

The tyres i missed - i looked at the rears as there was a new 1 fitted, i didn't check the depths on the fronts

Will the lights and mirror be covered under the Citroen warranty?

If the car was supplied with an Approved Citroen Select warranty then you should be able to claim for the light housings but I'm not so sure about the chrome strips as they may be listed under 'Paintwork'. Best advice would be to pop into your dealer and have them take a look and submit a claim through too Citroen for approval.

The thing is that under the 30 exchange agreement for the Approved side then you should be able to just swap the car anyway.

              Hi
I bought the car from a non francise dealer so the 30 day doesn't count.
I'm assuming the light will be covered by the Citroen warranty as there looks to be no visable damage to either light unit (no chips, cracks, etc) so the faults must be faulty parts? have you seen these problems before?
The mirror chrome - i've seen posts regarding this problem before so that should be straight forward?

              Cheers

My chrome side strip at the back has bubbled on top - car only 6 mths old and only done 4800.... taken into dealer and they have photographed it and now waiting to see if they will replace it. The guy said that it shouldn't have done it - so hopefully replaced soon.

I might be wrong but didn't someone get confused on the forum when changing a front light and manage to undo something in the light trim ? As I said, I might be wrong but that kinda sounds familiar...

The fault with my headlight is the insides which hold the bulbs has broken (plastic snapped) - don't think it could have been done without using brute force?
Car due back into dealer tommorow so they can have another look? - that's what it was in for on saturday - if agreed then it'll have to go in yet again when they have the parts ordered in stock
The guy said he didn't think the chrome mirror stem would be covered (it's got 100s of bubbles) as it's an accessory - WTF - when is a mirror an accessory????????????
