  • Spoiler parting

    Hi all,

I picked up a '11 plate Diesel DSport a few months back. So far no problems, which I would expect given the age. Love the car, it's a joy to see after a long day at work (what a great looking vehicle, full obsidian black with chrome strips and side mirrors), and to drive home at serious (but legal) speed. HOWEVER..

The rear spoiler has kind of opened up. Has anyone else experienced this? From what I can see, it appears that the bottom layer is joined to the main body using Velcro. No, you read that correctly, Velcro. Anyway, a clean up and some body glue should solve the problem. If anyone has come across this, do you have any recommendations as to product, prep etc.

    Thanks.

    Welcome!

Not seem that before but someone will be along soon with an answer!

I would post a picture but the Insert Image form seems to be unresponsive when I try and upload.

I'm not sure it will be much use anyway, I think readers can visualise a small gap between two layers of plastic with essence of failed Velcro peering through.

Not an unknown problem on early cars. As you probably saw the clips that actually hold it are on each side the velcro is to keep it from drooping down in the middle. No room for a clip there because of the light. Which is the reason the removable panel is there, the light, need to be able to access it if there is a problem with it. You have a couple of choices go to Citroen for new velcro or buy some other heavy duty velcro or do what I did and use some double sided tape for body trim Tough stuff and still able to remove if have to.

It's happening to mine too. It is easy to take the bottom bit off to reapply some Velcro? Don't want to damage anything.
