  • Sloppy

    Good evening all
So, had my ds3 for a couple of months now, got to say, I'm not impressed with the drive at all!! Had front drivers side spring changed a day after buying it, took it back not long after due to a knocking noise, wrong spring fitted!! Can anybody help with the following:

    Squeaky front suspension over bumps
    Squeaky seat
Sloppy suspension, feels clumpy over any roughish surface

Really spoiling the drive for me. Love the look and fuel economy though!!

My driver's seat squeaks from somewhere but I can't work out where. Suspension has started squeaking over bumps and someone on here mentioned it could be anti-roll bushes or something.

It's so annoying!!!! Are the bushes a big job??? Would that be why it feels sloppy???

I made a thread yesterday about squeaking/creaking front end!

Seems to be quite a common thing. I know these things can dry up over time but seems to be happening too early in life to me from previous experience of other cars.

Wouldn't say the suspension is 'sloppy' though, mine drives and rides really nicely. I'll be taking mine in shortly to see if they can identify the creak, it only happens on the road - I was unable to replicate by jumping up and down inside or pushing down on the car from the outside.

Got a squeak driver side on mine too sounds like metal rubbing against metal but can't find where.

It's not the brakes is it Pete ? Mine is doing that and I think it's the front discs although the dealer thinks it hasn't done enough miles to be that yet... I'm taking it in soon for them to look it over.

For the seat squeak- give the seat belt receptacle (inside) a quick shot of wd40.

Could you explain further then 'sloppy' because what you are hinting at is that the DS3 is all over the place and breaks traction.

It feels "loose" when you drive over an uneven road surface or bump? (not very good at explaining this, sorry) I can feel the vibration through the pedals? Just doesnt feel tight, like the front wheels are going to drop off, maybe exaggerating there, but its that kind of feeling.

The steering is pretty light anyway
You wanna try speeds in excess of 100mph, its like driving on ice

Done that, hasn't made any difference??? If it wasn't for the MPG and tax, it would be going!!!

Any ideas what it could be? The car isnt under CUK warranty anymore, but is under a 3 month warranty from the dealership I brought it from. The only problem is the dealership is 86 miles away!! Already had to take it back for broken spring, which was incorrect, so had to go back again!!! Wish I knew a lot more about cars!!

Not being funny, but have you made sure the wheel nuts are tight
Shake the wheel back and forth and see if theres any sound then (When stationary)
Could be lots things, steering, bearings, dampers, any of the connections behind the wheels at ends front axle

When I had a problem with a noise on the wheel, (Was a warped brake disc) popped into Kwikfit and the guy was great (Even drove it out to hear the noise). Didnt charge anything- dropped him a tenner

Get someone to drive the car to show them what you mean

Of course the moral of the story is..... buy a car close to home
