looking at a bit of advice on taking off the rear shocks... in the rear axel where the bottom of the shock is bolted to there is a hole.. I am assuming this is how you get to the bolt with a socket and an extension bar?? if so how easy is it to pull the bolt out with out it dropping off inside the axel and if it dose is it easy to get out??

    Rears are 5 min job.
The bolt through the hole you see is an external torx type, can't remember the exact size.
Best to leave the wheels on the car to remove the shocks but jack up the car a little to the point where the wheel is just about to lift off the ground. Undo the external torque bolt through the hole and then use a long reach magnet to pull out the bolt, if you've got it jacked up right the bolt will slide out easily, if it's tight just raise or lower the jack until the bolt frees. The top mount is straight forward

I like to just take the wheel off from the start and then use a second jack to adjust the height of the hub to get bolt out/in. The bolt size is E16

Replace the spring around the shock with a shorter one

                  Coilovers most likely.

As Colgan says, but the shocks wont last as if OEM springs were on

Coilovers replace the standard shocks dangerousfish

Lowering springs - shorter springs to replace the existing ones around the shock making the car lower

Coilovers - replace the existing shock absorber and spring, and are adjustable, theres nut which you turn to compress the spring on the coilover, so you can adjust height by the compression on the spring

You can also buy replacement aftermarker shocks and springs which are non adjustable

Has been suggested to me to get "Shortened shocks" but not sure where you'd get them
Just leave the OEM dampers ATM to see how they fair
Coilovers just tooooo pricey for me.

You mean lowering springs chris? Wouldnt be surprised if coilovers for a 207 fit a ds3, most of the gear is the same and the strut size is 51mm.

If someone had servicebox and could cross reference the part no. Of the standard shocks on both they could possibly be the same
