Well if you're definitely in 4th gear or above and it's flashing that error, I think a trip to the dealer is in order.

Sounds like a trip to the dealer - pressing the plus or minus button from "cruise pause" should set the speed.

As I said in my first post, it does sound like a sensor problem. The system needs to know vehicle speed, gear selected & whether or not the clutch or brake pedal is depresssed, probably a few other parameters. I would guess that it uses the same speed data as the speedo, so if the speedo's working you can probably rule that out - the fact that the limiter is working properly supports that. Is the "gear efficiecy indicator", the thing that nags you into changing up, working? If so, that's another cause which can be discounted. Check the brake lights - are they working OK? If so, I'd come back to my original guess, the clutch switch. If the system's getting a signal that indicates that the clutch pedal is pressed it will inhibit the cruise control. If I remember I'll try setting the cruise control with the clutch pedal down tomorrow & see what error message, if any, I get.

I've tried setting the cruise control with the clutch pedal depressed. It doesn't throw up a fault message, it just causes the dashes where the set speed should be shown to flash, so my clutch switch theory looks like it's not the casue.

It does seem a bit iffy at times.

Take this evening for example - cruising along at 70mph, press the pause button as approaching roundabout and it lurches forwards as if I've increased it.

                    not the first time either!

i think it was telling me impossible at first because the first numbers that popped up were 31mph, when i started pushing the plus button obviously it kicked in and started speeding away ,maby set to too low a speed when i tried the first time, dont know much about it but it works now, cheers for any input guys.

The only thing I can't think of is you've pressed the brake or clutch, cruise control has been disabled, then you've pressed the pause/enable button and it's been re-activated, causing the lurch forward.

Just noticed that my Cruise Control is on the blink! Literally! I was driving along this evening and went to put on the CC, but instead of it bring up the speed and activating, it just flashed the 2 little lines where the numbers are! Tried switching ignition off, checked ECU for fault codes, all clear, pushed brake and clutch pedals a few times and tried again, even the speed limit boyo does the same! [emoji17]

                            Anyone experienced this before?

the only timei see the two lines is when you turn it on you at the start. it shows the two lines, then you need to set the speed using the two buttons on the back of the CC console - top for speed up/bottom for slow down. as soon as you touch either, the speed is then shown and cruise control is set.
