  • Just out of interest gar074, have you had the high pressure fuel pump replaced yet?

    • Up to 10k now and no issues, other than oily film on the rocker cover. Dealer cleaned it off and told me to keep an eye on it. They reckoned they tighten the rocker cover up, and that may have been the problem! I told the guy that if it was from the rocker cover gasket that the oil would have leaked down the block! We'll see! Reading all this, I'm a bit apprehensive about the next 5k! Wish us luck.

Without. The techs that sorted it out last time (and who've been pretty good tbh) said it might cause warranty problems.

I know that others swear by the PCV delete - DaveB's posts in particular have been very encouraging on that one - but I daren't risk the warranty while its still playing up!

        • Quick Tip:

Remove the pipe at the top and put one of the pcv caps on the engine. The cap the pipe with this: http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Plum.../sd2729/p93914 this fits into the pipe perfectly. Cap the end of the blue pipe with some rubber or something airtight and secure it to the PCV pipe with cable ties. It can easily be removed before taking it in for warranty work.

            • And so it begins...

Pulling away from the lights this morning mine struggled to get over 30mph. Knew exactly what it was so drove it straight to the garage and dumped it there. Funnily enough I did spend all yesterday looking at new cars to replace it so obviously she wasn't happy and decided to throw a fit. Just hit 14k exactly too. What fun!

              • Took it in first thing this morning and get a call theres nothing wrong with it. I pick it up an hour ago and quelle surprise its struggling to hit 60mph on the motorway and it pulls away like a sack of spuds. Booked back in for tomorrow morning to be fobbed off yet again.

On the plus side I have 3 new bellones ordered!

                • Bummer. Has the engine management light come on yet? I ragged mine until it did, and then drove straight to the stealers before it disappeared (although I believe that once it's illuminated, the fault should be logged by the ECU, and should show up when the car's plugged in to their diagnostic box of tricks).

                  • No engine management light as of yet. I may take it on the motorway again later and see how long it goes before it starts screaming. With a bit of luck it will come on, though its pretty obvious what its likely to be judging by this thread.

                      • I gave that a blast but there was no joy. I took it in this morning and took one of the technicians out on a drive to show the under powered-ness. 2 hours later they reckon to have got to the bottom of it. And shock horror its the timing chain/tensioner iirc that is out so they have to order some specialist citroen tool along with some new parts to sort it. So its in the workshop for a few more days. It is refreshing they haven't fobbed me off again though.

I think it will be time to get shut of my DS3 once its fixed I'm off down to southern France this summer and don't really want to risk it in the beast. Such a shame. Its a beautiful machine when fully working though but lately its been one problem after another. A lesson learnt I guess. Hey ho!

                          • Meant to post up that since the timing chain, coolant temperature sensor and high pressure fuel pump were changed, our DS3 had been bevahing...until last week.

The DS3 is often largely static during the week and gets most of its airing during a weekend. Last couple of weeks I've been using it every day and decided to give it a bit of a rag

In 6th gear, around 85mph, suddenly flooring the gas from a non-gas position occasionally results in a momentary "stutter" as of it wants to go but then doesn't, then does, then doesn't. Lasts around half a second. Managed to replicate it straight after it occurred first time. Then on way home next day did it again in similar scenario although I was trying to get it to happen. Can't to it on demand. 4 times so far.

Due a service in circa 1,000 miles so may just wait until that's due before I take it in.

                            • Yep - the THP stutter!! I described it in an earlier post on this thread - like a quick rat-tat-tat ?
